Day 56 Dec.12 2010

well, i was supposed to be in traverse city by now...but mother nature had other plans for me.  it had started raining last night, and by 6am everything had frozen and we were already working on our first couple inches of snow.  blah.  needless to say, not really long distance driving weather...

so some christmas shopping was done, and we got to catch up with another co-worker from my old job at emergent.

caitlin put off her bedtime by a couple hours by playing with the blocks that i used to play with as a kid.  i love them, they have a letter on one side and a picture of something that starts with that letter on the other.  i would say they're highly educational, but we don't have the full alphabet, and half of the pictures i wouldn't have really picked to describe the letter...for example, V is for vulture, or Y is for yacht...my favorite is J is for jumper, and it's a picture of a a gopher maybe?  or a chipmunk in overalls???

i feel like there is a lot of pressure to "teach" my child, and get her to start talking NOW, immediately followed by tying her shoes and writing novels...i've resigned myself to the fact that she will spend the majority of her life speaking and doing long division and mimicking animal sounds, i'm not going to pressure her into doing all of that now.  for the time being we'll just enjoy chewing on blocks of wood and banging them on table tops and hard wood floors...:)
