Day 225 May 30 2011

i was sitting outside after i put caitlin down for her afternoon nap and saw a kite up in the sky off to the left.  i could tell from the angle of the kite string who ever had the handle was probably pretty far off to the left, past the building we live in (keep in mind our building houses six 2-bedroom units).  well, i was watching this kite and the wind died a little bit so the kite started to fall towards the trees behind us.  i heard someone yell 'oh no!' and i assumed the kite was toast.  the sound i heard next was a kind of whooshing combined with thudding...the next thing i saw made me fall out of my chair laughing.  a full grown adult man sprinted so fast past the yard i almost didn't even realize it was a human.  but no, it was in fact, a man running as fast as his cargo-short clad legs would carry him.  i have no idea how far past the yard he had to run to keep the kite up in the air, but he did.  i was very impressed.  the part that made it even better was that i expected to see a small child follow up after him...nope.  this dude was all alone, just him and his kite, on a not so windy, very sunny, beautiful, Memorial Day.  I give him props, I don't know many guys that would go out and fly a kite strictly for their own pleasure without any kind of family audience.  well done, you made me smile :)
