Day 60 Dec.16 2010

i've always wondered what my house was going to look like when i grew up.  i guess that's what kids will think about in today's economy, not what will i be when i grow up (no one will be able to find a job)...

when i say always, i really mean just in the last 3 or 4 years has this started to cross my mind.  i was so excited to move into the dorm in college so i could start with a clean slate and "design" my room anyway that i wanted.  i chuckle now anytime i see something that i saved from my college dorm room...oh what a hippie i was...by my senior year in college i was so sick of moving clutter every year, so i massively down graded my things and i didn't "decorate" much.  i suppose that's when my life started to take the "practical" turn from 'hippie land".  then i went straight into a full time, dress nice, no sweatpants job that really made me feel like a real-live adult (minus the face i was living with my parents...).  i felt like i should have a house of my own to decorate and call "mine".  and i almost did at the time, or would have in a short 6 months later - long story there and it has nothing to do with home decor.  so anyway, long story short, i've never felt permanent and adult enough at the same time to ever develop my "sense of home decor".

and then i marry a guy in the army where the adult aspect sky rockets and the permanent aspect plummets.  yippie!  i still to this day have no solution to this situation.  sorry, this one isn't profound at all today...  but i saw a napkin holder at my in-laws that i love, and ultimately it made me smile :)
