most of matthew and michelle's house is baby proofed rather well. to the point where i can let bug wander most of the rooms and not worry about what she is getting into or what she is putting in her mouth. it's kind of refreshing to not have to worry. i don't think my house is even that baby proofed...
when we visit beaumont, we bring marvin, and this adds a third cat food bowl to the dining room area. caitlin loves this. we have spent the last couple of days trying to teach her that she can look, but touching cat food is not for baby...she is actually don't pretty well with the concept. and by well, i mean she understands "no". the hard part is getting her to obey when i say "no"...
part of my morning routine with caitlin is to let her crawl around the bedroom floor until i can open both eyes at the same time. she seems to enjoy it and i like taking my time rolling out of bed. well this particular morning the bedroom door was opened. she padded to the door after rummaging through our suit case and slapped the hard wood floor a couple of times (this is her way of showing she is excited). she ventured out into the front room and chased after the cats that were in the window. i could hear what was going on, so i wasn't too concerned, especially when she came back into the bed room, crawled over to me, slapped my arm a few times, and headed back towards the bedroom door. i didn't really notice that she didn't go left toward the front room, but right, towards the dining room - with the cat food. after a min or two of no sound (which is what started to make me nervous) i heard the crash and scatter of cat food skidding every direction over hard wood floor. crap. i jumped out of bed to see my daughter surrounded by cat food, cat food in each sweaty palm, cat food colored drool running down her chin, and a huge smile on her face. crap crap crap.
after i cleaned up the child and the mess, i realized the spot i was sitting in on the floor made for kind of a cool view down the hallway:
